This ballpoint pen is a fine example of engine turning, an engraving technique in which an intricate repetitive pattern is etched mechanically onto a surface. Also known as guilloche, after the French engineer inventor Guillot, it works perfectly for pens. It not only gives it them a smart style, it makes them comfortable to hold.
