We’re an old-fashioned bunch here and we think there’s something really nice about writing a letter with a fountain pen. This one is a fine example of engine turning, an engraving technique in which an intricate repetitive pattern is etched mechanically onto a surface. Also known as guilloche, after the French engineer inventor Guillot, it works perfectly for pens – giving them a smart finish and making them comfortable to hold.
